For the last several years, Ben Simmons has been one of the more intriguing people in the NBA.

He has always been considered someone who possesses the talent to possibly become a borderline superstar, but he has also had qualities that have greatly held him back.

While Simmons has made three All-Star teams, he has never even come close to reaching his potential, and many critics feel he seriously lacks mental toughness and hunger.

Then there is the matter of his health ailments, which have caused him to miss tons of games since entering the league as the No. 1 pick in the 2016 draft.

NBACentral pointed out how over the last three seasons, those ailments have resulted in the Louisiana State University product appearing in just 48 games.

Ben Simmons has played a total of 48 games and missed 153 games over the last three seasons

Simmons has always been a tantalizing prospect because of his ability to rebound, create fast breaks, attack the basket, hit the open man, and defend at a high level.

At 6-foot-10, some have even compared his abilities to those of Magic Johnson and LeBron James.

But he has recently been plagued by back problems, and thus he has barely played for the Brooklyn Nets ever since being traded there nearly two years ago.

Simmons was sent to the Nets months after demanding a trade from the Philadelphia 76ers following a seemingly innocuous statement from then-head coach Doc Rivers.

After Simmons was excessively passive in a Game 7 loss to the Atlanta Hawks, Rivers was asked if Simmons could be the point guard of a championship team, and Rivers simply said he wasn’t sure.
