The Jacksonville Jaguars celebrated when they got the No. 1 pick a few years ago.
That made Trevor Lawrence, arguably the most hyped QB prospect since Andrew Luck, the first overall pick.
The early returns weren’t impressive, but Lawrence had won at every single level, and it was hard to put any blame on him with Urban Meyer as his coach.
He then took a major leap forward in his first year under Doug Pederson, showing glimpses of being the star most people thought he’d be.
Then again, he failed to improve and build from that success this season, and former Super Bowl champion Richard Sherman isn’t that impressed by him.
Talking on his podcast, the former DB claimed that he’s not so sure about whether Lawrence is the generational talent people thought he was, let alone the right guy to finally lead the Jaguars to success.
“They talked about him as if he was supposed to be the next Peyton or Andrew Luck and a generational talent that can elevate his team to the next level. And I just didn’t see that,” Sherman said.

He stated that the tape isn’t impressive at all, reminding the fans that the team lost five of their last six and that their only win came when Lawrence was out with injury.
Granted that Lawrence was banged up all season long and still made some impressive plays, but the overall feeling is that he’s left something to be desired.
Even so, the Jaguars will most likely have no choice but to sign him to his market value, which could go as high as $50 million.
Hopefully, he’ll be able to fulfill his potential.
