The Phoenix Suns entered the NBA season as the team to beat in the Western Conference, at least on paper.
No other team in the league looked better suited to take down the Denver Nuggets in the West.
Fast forward to today, and not only have they struggled to stay on the court together, but they’ve also looked quite beatable in those few times they’ve been at full strength.
Nonetheless, and despite all the rumors about his frustration and his body language, Kevin Durant wants to make it loud and clear that he’s happy and doesn’t want to get traded (via FOX and NBA Central):
Durant acknowledged that he ‘enjoys the grind’, and while he might get frustrated after a loss or because of a bad play or whatnot, it’s not like he’s frustrated with the situation overall.
“I don’t want to get traded. I’m not frustrated because Brad was injured. I wasn’t frustrated because of the role players on the team,” Durant said. “I’m not frustrated with the whole situation. I may be frustrated at the moment, at a bad play or a tough stretch. But nah, I enjoy the grind,” Durant said.
Kevin Durant says he ‘enjoys the grind’
“I don’t want to get traded. I’m not frustrated because Brad was injured. I wasn’t frustrated because of the role players on the team. That s— really was ignorant to me, you know what I’m saying. It’s like, yeah, we lose a game – you… pic.twitter.com/KaT2rm6Noe

Notably, the sole fact that he has to clarify that he doesn’t want to be traded is kind of funny, given his reputation.
Then again, it’s not like he’s been the kind of player who seems to care about what other people have to say about him.
The Suns still have the second half of the season to regroup, take a deep look in the mirror, and get better.
They also need to stay healthy.
But even if they don’t look good right now, they just need to get to a stretch of really good basketball to go back to being a huge threat to come out of the West.
