At this time of the year, when playoff-bound teams are preparing for the NFL playoffs and every other team is assessing what needs to happen, there can be quite a few head coaches that lose their jobs.

This year is no different with several teams in the league firing their head coaches, with some surprise moves being made ahead of Wild Card Weekend.

Before Wednesday’s news broke, Mike Vrabel was let go by the Tennessee Titans, which was the most surprising move a team had made yet in terms of a franchise letting a head coach go.

On Wednesday, that move got topped by the Seattle Seahawks, with the team parting ways with Pete Carroll, but it wasn’t a direct firing, as he will still have a role with the franchise but will no longer be the head coach moving forward.

Carroll no longer being the head coach in Seattle sparked quite a few reactions, with one of his former players, Richard Sherman, being among those who reacted to the news and was shocked by the move by the Seahawks brass, via The Volume.

Unfortunately for Seattle, the Seahawks missed the NFL playoffs this year, which came down to the final week of the regular season, with the Green Bay Packers punching their ticket to the postseason instead of Carroll’s team.

Sherman does have a point in saying that new isn’t always better, which seems to be the path the Seahawks are taking, with the franchise potentially wanting a new voice in the locker room.
