The Miami Dolphins were unable to capture the AFC East crown in Week 18 as they lost to the Buffalo Bills.
The Dolphins struggled to move the football against a surging Bills defense, and now go into the 2023 NFL Playoffs having to face the Kansas City Chiefs on the road.
Miami played against Buffalo shorthanded as they were without Jaylen Waddle and Raheem Mostert.
Waddle and Mostert are dealing with ankle and knee injuries, respectively, leaving their status against the Chiefs up in the air.
However, it sounds like the Dolphins will have them available as they are reportedly optimistic about their health after getting limited practices in via Adam Schefter of ESPN.
“Jaylen Waddle, Raheem Mostert, neither played Sunday Night against Buffalo. Both have been dealing with their own ankle, knee injuries and so the Dolphins are hoping that they’re back for Saturday night’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs. My sense is that somehow they make it back onto the field Saturday night at Kansas City,” Schefter said.
The Dolphins’ offense hums when it has both Waddle and Mostert on the field, and their presence would be a huge boost given the Chiefs’ stout defense.
While most fans might expect a shootout between the two teams, it could come down to the play of the defenses.
Miami is at a disadvantage after losing multiple players on their defense the past few weeks, meaning that the offense might have to do the heavy lifting.
Waddle and Mostert may not be 100 percent, but they still are two of the best skill position players on the team and can make plays at any given time.
