Heading into the 2023 NFL regular season, the consensus was that legendary head coach Bill Belichick might very well be coaching for his job with the New England Patriots, and a disappointing outcome could spell the end of his time with the franchise.
Although it took nearly a week to come to a decision, the Patriots brass have seemingly decided to part ways with Belichick after more than two decades and six Super Bowl titles won in New England.
Even though it seemed inconceivable that Belichick wouldn’t control his fate and how he’d want to end his stint with the team, New England’s shortcomings since the departure of superstar quarterback Tom Brady proved to be too much to overcome, leading longtime owner Robert Kraft and company deciding to go in another direction.
With Belichick’s time with the Patriots officially over, one of the best players he ever coached in New England, star wide receiver Julian Edelman, felt compelled to react to the news on Twitter with a touching video.

If it weren’t for Belichick’s undying faith in Edelman, there’s a strong chance he would’ve never become a household name in the NFL and one of the more inspiring stories in league history.
Edelman won three Super Bowl titles and a Super Bowl MVP while being coached by Belichick and being one of Brady’s favorite targets in the passing game during the peak of their dynasty in New England.
Although Belichick’s Patriots stint has come to an end, he’ll have no shortage of suitors on the open market, with teams around the league bound to show interest in his services during the offseason.
