More than half a decade ago, the Los Angeles Rams decided to make a bold move by parting ways with longtime head coach Jeff Fisher and bringing in Sean McVay for his first head coaching gig.

As a result of the hiring, McVay became the youngest head coach in the league at 30 years old, which was obviously a risky move because it could’ve been a disaster if McVay wasn’t ready to take on the responsibility of being the leader on the sideline in the NFL.

Seven years later, McVay is no longer the youngest head coach in the league, with the New England Patriots replacing legendary head coach Bill Belichick with Jerod Mayo, who is a month younger than the Rams head coach.

On Friday, McVay learned that he’s no longer the youngest head coach in the league and reflected on Rams owner Stan Kroenke taking a chance on him at 30 years old and how it still seems like a crazy move all these years later, via Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team.

Fortunately for Kroenke and the Rams, the move to bring in McVay eventually paid off, as he led the team to a Super Bowl title in 2021 and has kept the team relevant for the majority of the years he’s coached the team thus far.

After a poor start to the 2023 NFL regular season, McVay and company looked like they were headed toward a disappointing end of the season, but he was able to turn things around, and now the team is playoff-bound with an epic showdown set between Los Angeles and the Detroit Lions.
