The Western Conference is as tough as ever, but the Dallas Mavericks are doing well to keep pace with their rivals.
The Mavericks own a 23-16 record, good enough for the No. 7 seed and the Play-In Tournament, but the team is obviously looking to compete for an NBA championship this year.
Luka Doncic is playing some of the best basketball of his career, while Kyrie Irving has slotted in nicely as a No. 2.
However, Dallas remains small in the front court and their Grant Williams acquisition hasn’t panned out the way they hoped.
There are seemingly numerous buyers this season ahead of the NBA trade deadline and the Mavericks could get in the mix for some of the more sought-after players.
Pascal Siakam has been one of the hottest names available and Dallas is reportedly interested in trading for the former All-Star via Jake Fischer of Yahoo.
“I know there are absolutely people in Dallas who really think Pascal is a missing piece that could potentially pair with Luka [Doncic] and Kyrie Irving and all of a sudden you look up and the Mavericks off are a legitimate contender in the West,” Fischer said.
People within the Mavericks’ organization believes Pascal Siakam could be the missing piece next to Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic, per @JakeLFischer

Siakam’s future with the Toronto Raptors appears to be coming to an end as the two sides are reportedly far apart on a contract extension.
Toronto will be looking hard at moving Siakam at the deadline, and the Mavericks make a lot of sense on paper as a potential landing spot.
A trio of Doncic, Irving, and Siakam would rival almost any team as far as talent goes, so it’ll be intriguing to see if the two sides end up working out a deal.
