The San Antonio Spurs selected Victor Wembanyama with the first overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.
Wembanyama was viewed as the consensus No.1 overall pick in almost every NBA Draft projection and the French phenom has been tasked to lead the rebuild of the San Antonio Spurs.
With the arrival of Wembanyama and the legendary head coach Gregg Popovich still a part of the organization, many believed it wouldn’t take long for the Spurs to become a top team in the NBA.
However, the Spurs have struggled a lot this season, and they are currently the worst team in the Western Conference.
Many believe that losing so many games is undoubtedly stunting the growth of Victor Wembanyama.
Keeping that in mind, NBA analyst Skip Bayless recently questioned Gregg Popovich’s role in Victor Wembanyama’s growth this season via The Skip Bayless Show on Twitter.
“Where’s the coaching?” Bayless wondered.

There is no doubt that Gregg Popovich has played a crucial role in the success of the San Antonio Spurs throughout his time with the San Antonio Spurs.
In fact, as a coach, Popovich has helped the Spurs win five NBA Championships during his career.
Following the retirement of Tim Duncan in 2016 and the departure of Kawhi Leonard in 2018, many believed that Popovich would finally bid farewell to the organization as well.
However, Popovich stayed, and it paid off as the team got another generational player in Wembanyama.
Unfortunately, with a 7-30 record this season, the Spurs’ coaching hasn’t certainly been up to the mark to help Victor Wembanyama grow in a positive environment and the sooner it changes, the better it will be for the French star.
