The New Orleans Pelicans are keeping pace with the rest of the Western Conference as they own a 23-16 record and sit in seventh.
New Orleans has tapered off a bit after a strong start to the 2023-24 NBA season, but are still playing solid basketball.
With how bunched up the Western Conference is, there are going to be more buyers than sellers and the Pelicans figure to be in the market for another player or two.
Their star tandem of Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram is a great foundation, but New Orleans could use more bench depth in their backcourt.
CJ McCollum and Herbert Jones are worthy starters, while Jose Alvarado and Trey Murphy III have been excellent in their roles.
However, it looks like the Pelicans have their eyes set on some veteran help as they’re reportedly registering interest in Alec Burks via Sam Amico of Hoopswire.com
“The Pelicans are interested in Alec Burks,” Amico reported.

Burks is an underrated player who’s in the final year of his deal, making him an attractive option for teams like New Orleans who could use a little more scoring.
The Detroit Pistons are going nowhere anytime soon and will likely sell off most of their veterans at the deadline in order to stockpile their draft assets.
Because of his age and expiring deal, the Pelicans can probably have him for salary filler and second-round draft compensation.
If that’s the cost to land a useful player like Burks, then New Orleans should pull the trigger in order to add some depth and firepower.
