After finishing the regular season with wins in four of their final five games, the Cleveland Browns rode into their opening-round matchup of the 2023 playoffs against the Houston Texans on Saturday with a ton of confidence.
At first, it seemed like the magical journey of the 2023 Browns was going to continue as they held a 14-10 lead midway through the second quarter.
But then the Texans went on to score 35 unanswered points and eventually left their home field with a 45-14 win over Cleveland.
After the contest, Cleveland 19 News’s Ashly Holder shared a clip on Twitter of Browns general manager Andrew Berry shaking the hands of every Cleveland player as they went into the team’s locker room.

Berry knows this might be the last time some of these players appear in a Browns uniform, so he just wanted to thank them for the work they put in during the team’s 2023 season.
The loss is disappointing for Cleveland and their fans, but given all of the obstacles they had to overcome during the regular season, just getting a chance to face Houston in the first round of the playoffs should be viewed as a big accomplishment for the Browns.
This isn’t how the Cleveland locker room felt after Saturday’s loss, as they had bigger goals than just making the postseason.
But the Browns can still use their performance during the 2023 season as proof that they can overcome almost anything with head coach Kevin Stefanski leading the way.
Unfortunately, now Cleveland will have to watch the rest of the playoffs from home, but they should have a good chance at returning to the dance next season.
