Baseball is one sport where many of the top players try to play well past their prime.

We have seen some players go until their early 40s because they believe they can still play.

Many players who can be successful late into their careers are up for major milestones.

One milestone that every hitter wants to achieve is 3,000 career hits.

Anyone who can reach 3,000 for their career is a lock to reach the Baseball Hall of Fame.

That number goes to show both longevity and being a great hitter.

You cannot luck your way into 3,000 hits, it is something that is earned.

There are a few players currently playing that have a shot at reaching that milestone.

According to FOX Sports: MLB, the name at the top of the active hits list is Joey Votto.

Votto has 2,135 career hits and still wants to continue playing.

But, if he is going to play in 2024 it will most likely not be with the Cincinnati Reds.

Votto has a long way to go to reach 3,000 and it seems unlikely.

One player who has a much better shot at 3,000 is Freddie Freeman.

He is second on the active list and has 2,114 career hits.

But, he still seems to be at the peak of his skills.

Last season, Freeman finished third in NL MVP voting, and he finished second in hitting with 211 hits.

At 34 years old, Freeman has shown no signs of slowing down.

While he may need a few more dominant seasons to reach 3,000, we should not write him off.

Freeman is one of the best players of this generation and he has a shot at 3,000 career hits.
