Playing the game of basketball may seem easy at first sight, but in reality, it is full of complex strategies that make a team tick like a clock.
A key part of any successful team in the NBA is none other than playing excellent defense.
Although the modern NBA is much more friendly for offensive players, true basketball fans still enjoy seeing great effort on the defensive end of the floor.
Speaking of defense in the NBA, most teams rely on either man-to-man marking or zone defense during games.
While each defense has its pros and cons, it seems like former NBA player Kendrick Perkins is not a fan of zone defense being played in the league.
Perkins went as far as saying that the league should ban zone defense to avoid games getting boring for the audience, via NBA on ESPN on Twitter.
“The NBA should ban teams from playing zone,” Perkins said.

The zone defense became legal in the NBA prior to the 2001-02 season.
Previously, most teams relied on man-to-man defense in order to slow down their opponents.
It essentially allowed the fans to enjoy a plethora of one-on-one matchups during games.
However, zone defense is an integral part of defensive strategies in the modern era, and the league has no plans to change that rule anytime soon.
Keeping that in mind, Perkins will have to find a way to be okay with teams playing the zone defense, at least for the foreseeable future.
