The head coaching hiring cycle this year is one of the most intriguing in recent memory and Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is hitting the market at a good time.

Even though high-profile names like Bill Belichick and Jim Harbaugh are interviewing, Johnson has made a name for himself for the work he’s done in Detroit.

The Lions beat the Los Angeles Rams last week in the Wild Card Round and now host another playoff game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Although head coach Dan Campbell is often the one who gets praised for Detroit’s steady rise, Johnson deserves just as much credit for reshaping the offense.

Johnson rehabbed Jared Goff’s value as a quarterback and his creativity as a playcaller makes him an attractive candidate for a head coaching job.

After meeting with the Carolina Panthers and Washington Commanders, Johnson is set to meet with three more teams via Jonathan Jones of CBS.

“Today, he has virtual interviews with the Seahawks, Chargers and Falcons. Johnson is one of the hottest candidates on the market, and sources consider him the favorite to land the Washington job,” Jones reported.

The Seattle Seahawks, Los Angeles Chargers and Atlanta Falcons all make for perfect fits for Johnson as all three teams have incredible offensive talent to work with.

Meanwhile, the Commanders could use someone like Johnson to help unlock some of their talent like Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson.

For now, though, Johnson has enough to think about as he tries to keep the Lions’ playoff run alive.
