The Detroit Lions got a little scare late vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but they never crumbled under pressure and finished the job.
Dan Campbell’s team will put up a fight every single time they set foot on the field, regardless of the opponent, the score, or whatnot.
Nonetheless, as impressive as they’ve been this season, NFL analyst Craig Carton believes they don’t stand a chance to go any further in the playoffs.
Talking on The Carton Show, he stated that their upcoming matchup with the San Francisco 49ers is an ‘unwinnable game’ for them.
“This is an unwinnable game for the Detroit Lions,” Carton said.

Carton claimed that the Niners won the game they could’ve lost, and he believes their struggles vs. the Green Bay Packers were an anomaly, and they will go back to their dominant ways next Sunday.
He could have a valid point there, as it had been a while since the starters were out there playing a meaningful game because they had already clinched the No. 1 seed in the NFC before the regular-season finale.
They may have needed some time to get their legs back under them and their rhythm.
Nonetheless, these Lions are no pushovers.
They have arguably the most efficient offense in the league, not to mention a veteran quarterback who’s already been to the biggest game of the season earlier in his career.
The Niners could and should win this game, all things considered, but it wouldn’t be shocking to see the Lions giving them a run for their money or even spoiling their season on the road.
