From the very second they won the NBA championship, all the chatter around the Denver Nuggets centered around their ability to retain Bruce Brown.

Brown played a huge role in the team’s championship run, but they were in a tough spot in terms of the salary cap, so he was going to be better off somewhere else.

Despite their attempts to retain him, Brown wound up testing free agency and eventually signed a deal with the Indiana Pacers.

The Pacers included him in the trade to land Pascal Siakam, and the Toronto Raptors could look to move him again.

With that in mind, NBA insider Chris Hynes reports that the Nuggets could look to get him back (via NBA Central).

“I was told that the Denver Nuggets would love to have Bruce Brown back…they just don’t have the picks to try to do that…That’s something to keep an eye on down the road,” Haynes said.

Haynes’ report states that they currently don’t have the draft picks to get a deal done, but he believes that’s a situation worth keeping a close eye on.

Brown was a seamless fit in Denver, but Masai Ujiri is well known for overpricing his assets and not budging at all.

He got three first-round picks for Siakam’s expiring deal, and the word around the league is that he wants one first-rounder for Brown as well.

The reigning NBA champions have been as good as always in their season as title defendants, but all good things could become even better.

Brown is unlikely to finish the season up north, but he’s not going to go anywhere unless someone is willing to pay up.
