The 2023-24 season has been a difficult one for the Golden State Warriors, and they’re still trying to deal with the tragic death of assistant coach Dejan Milojević, who died last week after suffering a heart attack at the age of 46.
They have also had to deal with the absences of some key players, including forward Draymond Green, who was suspended twice by the NBA for violent in-game incidents and only recently returned from his most recent suspension.
With an 18-22 record, the Warriors are in 12th place in the Western Conference, and the concern over their chances of making the playoffs is growing.
They will host the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday, and they gave an update on injured guards Moses Moody and Gary Payton II, who will be re-evaluated again in one and two weeks, respectively.

Moody was part of a cadre of young players who helped Golden State win their most recent NBA championship two years ago and was supposed to help keep their core of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green spry.
That plan did not come to fruition, but Moody’s playing time has gradually increased over the past couple of years, and he’s averaging 8.7 points in 18.0 minutes per game this season.
Youth and energy are perhaps the Warriors’ biggest needs right now, as Thompson is clearly not the player he used to be.
