The 2023 NFL season didn’t exactly go as planned for the Carolina Panthers, with the team drafting quarterback Bryce Young with the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft and going on to win only two games during the regular season.

This production, or lack thereof, led to a very upset team owner in David Tepper getting so irate during a game that he threw a beverage on a fan of an opposing team, which showed both his passion for the game and his frustration with his team at the same time.

As expected, the NFL punished Tepper for his irresponsible actions by fining him $300,000, which is an expensive drink, to say the least.

With the Panthers limping into the NFL offseason with only two wins to their credit, a lot has to change in order for this team to bounce back and become a legitimate threat in the NFC once again.

Apparently, the team has started their offseason moves by hiring Dan Morgan to become the team’s new general manager, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The #Panthers are hiring Dan Morgan as their new GM, per me, @JamesPalmerTV, and @TomPelissero. After an exhaustive search, Carolina stays in-house.

A former Pro Bowl player in Carolina, Morgan has been assistant GM since 2021. Now promoted, he’ll work to hire the new coach. pic.twitter.com/eKNBmKsy6Z

Here are some fan reactions to the Panthers hiring Morgan to be the team’s new general manager moving forward:

So in other words they hired the easiest guy for Tepper to push around cos he’s already in the building. Not ideal

Interesting. Rooting for him but has his work cut out for him with Tepper.

Awesome to see him become the gm after a being a very good player for the Panthers! Still has the most tackles in Super Bowl history, 18, in 2003!

Love these types of hires, see if it works out as well as Lynch and @Niners

I don’t know if I’m a fan. I’m lowkey tired of hiring within the organization. He was the assistant GM which means he had a play in this mess within the front office. It’s OK to hire from the outside. Hopefully it can be good but ehh not feeling it currently

This was a surprising move from an owner like Tepper with deep pockets, as many anticipated he’d go for a big name to be his new general manager and leader in the front office.

Obviously, Tepper was content hiring internally, even if the fan base isn’t too thrilled with the move.
