Kevin Durant has unquestionably been one of the best players in the NBA over the past dozen years or so, and he will certainly be a first-ballot Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductee after he calls it a career.
Some would even argue that he may be one of the 10 greatest NBA players of all-time.
However, Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors, Durant’s former teammate, says Durant won’t be recognized as worthy of being in the debate for being arguably the greatest ever unless he leads a team to an NBA championship as the main guy, per Bleacher Report.

Durant spent his first nine seasons with the Seattle SuperSonics/Oklahoma City Thunder, and despite some outstanding play, he couldn’t lead the franchise to the promised land despite the help of Russell Westbrook.
He joined the Warriors in the summer of 2016, and although the Warriors won the next two titles with Durant winning the NBA Finals MVP both times, he still doesn’t get credit for those rings to this day from many people.
Since leaving the Warriors in 2019 after a falling out with Green, Durant spent a couple of seasons with the Brooklyn Nets before being sent to the Phoenix Suns nearly a year ago.
The Suns looked to have a superteam coming into this season with Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal, but injuries grounded them for the first several weeks of the schedule.
Yet lately, they have started to grow warm by winning 11 of their last 14 games and rising to fifth place in the Western Conference.
If Durant leads this Phoenix team to the world championship, perhaps he will start to get the credit Green said Stephen Curry got in 2022 by leading a Durant-less Warriors team all the way.
