In spite of their season-long struggles, NFL analysts and fans still had plenty of respect for Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
They’re the reigning Super Bowl champions for a reason, and they’ve proven over and over that they can never be counted out, regardless of the score, the opponent, or the context.
Against all odds, they still managed to get to the AFC Championship Game for the sixth time in as many years.
With that in mind, NFL analyst Marcus Spears said on Get Up that even though he would choose Lamar Jackson to win this particular battle with the Chiefs, he cannot sleep on Mahomes.
“If Patrick Mahomes goes into Baltimore and wins this game, I think this will arguably be his best win of his playoff run,” Spears said.

He claimed that should Mahomes get past the Baltimore Ravens, this would be his greatest playoff run to date, and he might have a valid point there.
For starters, this was the first time in his six-year career as a starter that he had to go on the road to play in the playoffs.
He clearly took that personally, and he’s been on a tear in his two postseason games to date, throwing for 477 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions and adding eight rushes for 60 yards.
Mahomes has established himself as the best quarterback in the league, even in an era where we have at least ten elite quarterbacks.
The odds might not be in his favor, but you can never count him out.
