After being out of football for quite some time due to being suspended by the NFL for gambling on games, veteran wide receiver Calvin Ridley was able to get a chance to resurrect his career this season with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The risk versus reward weighed heavily in the Jaguars’ favor when they took on Ridley, as he had the chance to become Trevor Lawrence’s favorite target downfield and, therefore, extend his career in the league or flame out where the team could release him and move on.

Fortunately for both sides, things appear to have worked out, even though the 2023 campaign was forgettable, with the team failing to make the playoffs.

The Jaguars were impressed with Ridley’s performance this season, so the team appears to be working on bringing him back for the 2024 NFL season, according to Pro Football Talk.

We would love to have Calvin back. We are going to work toward that. What that means is, I don’t know right now,” general manager Trent Baalke said.

In the 17 games that Ridley played for Jacksonville, he racked up 1,016 receiving yards and eight touchdowns on 76 receptions, which is impressive, to say the least, for someone who spent a lot of time away from football.

With Ridley potentially back in the fold for the Jaguars, Lawrence and his new prized wideout will have more time to build some much-needed chemistry between the two in hopes of this passing game taking a giant leap forward next season.

Even though the Jaguars had high hopes of winning the AFC South division and making a deep run in the postseason, Jacksonville didn’t see the Houston Texans coming, as rookie phenom C.J. Stroud and company were able to steal the division crown.
