In a not-surprising turn of events, the Green Bay Packers decided to part ways with defensive coordinator Joe Barry.
There were some doubts about whether the team should bring him back this season, and the decision to let him go was made after watching his defense underperform so vastly again this season.
Nonetheless, Barry still has some pedigree around the league and is a well-known defensive specialist, so it shouldn’t take long before he finds himself a new home.
As a matter of fact, NFL insider Jane Slater reports that Barry is already drawing some interest around the league, albeit in a lesser capacity.
“DC Joe Barry has an interview with the Eagles today for their linebackers coach position and will meet with the Bears tomorrow about a position on their defensive staff per source,” Slater said.

Apparently, he’s going to interview with the Philadelphia Eagles to serve as their linebackers coach behind new defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, and he’s also going to interview with the Chicago Bears to get an undisclosed position on their defensive coaching staff.
The Bears could most definitely use an insider telling them some secrets from their lifelong rivals, and the Eagles need to leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of some much-needed improvement on defense, so this definitely makes sense.
With Joe Barry as defensive coordinator, the Packers had one of the best scoring defenses in the league and thrived against the pass, but they were quite vulnerable vs. the run.
The Packers are still gathering information and assessing all their options to fill in for him.
But it seems like he won’t have a hard time getting a new job.
