The Los Angeles Chargers finally found their man, and this is the most exciting time to be a Chargers fan in quite a while.

Notably, that includes a former franchise great, Shawne Merriman, who looked thrilled to know they had closed a deal with Jim Harbaugh to be their next head coach.

Talking to TMZ Sports, the legendary linebacker claimed that his former team might now finally feel like they can go out and win a championship.

“It’s just a match made in heaven,” he said. “I don’t think there could’ve been more of a perfect storm,” Merriman said.

He stated that the Chargers are now officially a Super Bowl contender, adding that he’s going to inherit ‘the most talented team to never make the playoffs’ and he’s about to have some fun with that roster.

Merriman had previously expressed some concerns regarding Harbaugh’s age and his ability to connect with a young roster.

Then again, the guys at Michigan were even younger, and he’s fresh off of winning a National Championship.

The former pass rusher also claimed that he was thankful for the fact that the Bolts didn’t pursue Bill Belichick, as he thinks it wouldn’t have been a good fit for Los Angeles and the current roster.

Harbaugh has turned struggling teams into legitimate powerhouses at all levels.

The Chargers have way too much talent on both sides of the field, but continue to underperform despite it.

Now, the expectation is that this team will challenge the Kansas City Chiefs for the AFC West Division, and some analysts believe they should win at least 11 games in Harbaugh’s first season on the job.
