The Milwaukee Bucks recently made a shocking decision by firing their head coach, Adrian Griffin, despite the team having a 30-13 record under his coaching.
Following the announcement, many anticipated that the organization would hire Doc Rivers as their next head coach, and that anticipation turned out to be correct.
The Bucks have signed Rivers to a four-year, $40 million contract as they hope he can bring back the championship pedigree to the organization.
The news was made official following the Bucks’ most recent 100-112 defeat at the hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Rivers has always been praised for his ability to connect with his players using some strong words, and team veteran Pat Connaughton recently revealed the veteran head coach’s first words to the team via Gabe Stoltz on Twitter.
“He talks about just being able to have that identity that we should have as the Milwaukee Bucks,” Connaughton said.
Doc Rivers spoke to the Bucks earlier today. Here’s Pat Connaughton on what he said to the team:
“He said a few sentences and they were powerful. He talks about just being able to have that identity that we should have as the Milwaukee Bucks.”

Connaughton pointed out that Rivers talked about the players finding their identity as the Milwaukee Bucks for the remainder of the season.
While Rivers won an NBA Championship with the Boston Celtics in 2008, since then, he has failed to repeat the same level of success in his career.
The Milwaukee Bucks were the number one seed in the Eastern Conference last season but ended up getting eliminated in the opening round of the 2023 playoffs by the eighth-seeded Miami Heat.
Is Doc Rivers the final piece of the puzzle that the Bucks need to avoid repeating last year’s blunder? Fans will find out soon.
