There are only two open head coaching roles left at the moment this offseason – the Seattle Seahawks and Washington Commanders.
Both teams have their pros and cons as destinations for new coaches, although the Commanders have a new general manager and the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 draft with three solid quarterbacks at the top of the board.
The Commanders have taken their time finding a new head coach, though, and plan to interview Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn on Tuesday, according to Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz.

Quinn has been tied to the Seahawks’ job as well considering he used to be Seattle’s defense coordinator under Pete Carroll.
Quinn has coached the Cowboys’ defense for the past three seasons after he spent the previous five-and-a-half seasons as the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons.
While Quinn appears to be a leading candidate for the Commanders’ job, Washington has also reportedly been linked to Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson.
Both have been hot candidates this offseason but neither have taken new jobs yet.
Depending on what happens with the Lions – they play the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC title game today – the Commanders could make a decision next week between Quinn and Johnson.
Other candidates on Washington’s list are: Commanders offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, Houston Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik, and Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald.
Quinn is the only candidate from that group with head coaching experience, though, which could weigh into the decision the team makes for it’s next team leader for 2024 and the future.
