So far, it’s been a great season for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

After years of meandering toward the bottom or middle of the Western Conference, the Timberwolves are now sitting as the second seed.

And things could be getting even better for Minnesota, especially if NBA legend Kevin Garnett becomes part of the organization.

A new story from Brian Windhorst of ESPN, via Kyle Theige, highlighted a stunning fact: “There is a chance Garnett will take a role with the organization” if the Timberwolves are sold by longtime owner Glen Taylor.

Apparently, Garnett has been in a “bitter dispute with Taylor and distant from the franchise in recent years.”

The Hall of Famer was once a huge part of the Timberwolves when he was on the team.

He averaged 19.8 points, 11 rebounds, and 4.3 assists with the Timberwolves and scored ten All-Star appearances during that stretch too.

After playing with Minnesota, he moved on to the Boston Celtics and then briefly the Brooklyn Nets before moving back to the Timberwolves for the last games of his career.

When he retired, many people thought he’d stay close to the Timberwolves and he has publicly stated his fondness for the team.

But instead, Garnett has spent his time as a commentator and fan and hasn’t accepted a job with Minnesota or any other NBA franchise.

The Timberwolves are a great team and have a few powerful big men and Garnett could help them perfect their game even more.

He could also grow close with younger stars like Anthony Edwards, Jaden McDaniels, Naz Reid, and others.

Of course, all of this hinges on the sale of the team, which hasn’t yet been made official.
