Yankees Make A Minor Depth Move Tuesday

The New York Yankees have made it clear what direction they are heading in this offseason.

That is to do whatever it takes to win and get back to the World Series.

Last season, the Yankees had a down year.

They finished fourth in the AL East with a record of 82-80.

That will never be good enough for the city of New York or Yankee fans.

But, to fix their issues the Yankees made one of the biggest moves of the offseason.

They acquired All-Star outfielder Juan Soto from the San Diego Padres.

It was a blockbuster trade in which the Yankees landed one of the best young players in the sport.

Soto is an elite hitter who thrives at getting on base.

His presence alone should make the rest of the Yankees lineup more productive.

But, the team still feels the need to keep adding to the depth of the outfield.

According to Robert Murray, the Yankees have signed Greg Allen to a minor-league contract with an invite to Spring Training.

Allen is nothing more than a depth piece if he even makes the Yankees roster.

Last season, Allen played 22 games with the Yankees.

He batted 23 times in that span and hit .217.

One reason the Yankees gave him a contract is because they are familiar with him.

Also, he can take some at-bats in Spring Training when the Yankees want to rest their starters.

This is not a big move from the Yankees like we saw when they got Soto.

But, not every player on a team can be a star.

Sometimes it is the lesser-known players that can make a big impact.
