Many MLB free agents are still looking for a new home.

Outside of the Los Angeles Dodgers, many teams have not spent a lot of money on free agents.

But, as we inch closer to spring training you can bet many of the top free agents available will find homes.

One player whose market has been quiet is former Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Matt Chapman.

But, we gained some clarity on where Chapman will not be going on Tuesday.

With the signing of Justin Turner to the Blue Jays, it appears Chapman will not be headed back to Toronto.

According to Jon Morosi, two teams that might be interested in Chapman are the Chicago Cubs and San Francisco Giants.

Chapman is one of the best defensive third basemen in baseball.

But, his lack of offensive production is what leaves him unsigned.

Last season, Chapman played 140 games for the Blue Jays.

He batted .240 with 17 home runs and 54 RBI.

Even with great defense, that is not the type of production teams are coveting.

Also, it does not help that Chapman struck out 165 times.

He has a ton of swing-and-miss in his game which is never a good thing.

Chapman is set to enter his age-31 season and he will still be a value to a team looking for a third baseman.

But, expecting Chapman to make significant improvements as an offensive player is foolish.

At this point in his career, he is what he is.

But, that is still a valuable player that can help a contending team.
