One of the most successful teams in the Eastern Conference over the last few years in the NBA has been, without a doubt, the Miami Heat, as the team always seems to find a way to play their best basketball during the playoffs.
One of the main reasons for the team’s success during this span, including two trips to the NBA Finals, has been the leadership of veteran star Jimmy Butler, who has helped the franchise stay afloat since Dwyane Wade left.
Last season, the Heat did something remarkable as Butler and company were able to get through the Play-In Tournament to earn the eighth seed in the East and go on to dominate the competition in the postseason, leading to another appearance in the Finals.
Even though the eventual champion Denver Nuggets crushed them in five games, Butler and company still defied the odds in epic fashion, leading many to believe this team could be on the verge of winning a title in the near future.
As of right now, the Heat are sitting in seventh place in the East with a record of 24-23, which obviously isn’t ideal, but Kendrick Perkins of ESPN thinks it’s time Miami considers moving on from Butler, via NBA on ESPN.
“It’s time for the Miami Heat and Jimmy Butler to go their separate ways,” Perkins said.

Here are some fan reactions to Perkins’ trade idea involving the Heat moving on from Butler:
Bro how much longer is ESPN going to employ this dude…

While I respect @kendrickperkins‘ perspective, I believe that every team has its ups and downs. It’s the challenges that make the victories sweeter. Let’s give Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat a bit more time to prove their worth.

Wait, haven’t they made it to the finals 2 out of the last 4 years?

No one is siding with Perkins on this one because it really doesn’t make any sense, especially with Miami’s success always seeming to come later in the season and during the postseason.
With Perkins having to come up with hot takes on a daily basis, he may have run out of ideas and gone with this scenario, which is a big whiff.
