After struggling to reclaim their form as an elite offense led by arguably the most talented quarterback the NFL has ever seen, the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs and superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes have defied the odds to reach the big game for a second straight year.

Although it seemed like it was inevitable that NFL MVP favorite Lamar Jackson would lead the Baltimore Ravens to the Super Bowl, Mahomes and his squad showed why they’ve been so good in the playoffs over the last half-decade or so, as they put on a show on the road in the AFC Championship Game to advance.

As Mahomes continues to add to his legacy and chase arguably the greatest quarterback of all time, Tom Brady, he has earned the respect of the seven-time Super Bowl champion and future Hall of Famer.

Brady made an appearance on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” this week to praise Mahomes because he believes that the Chiefs are always the team to beat with the superstar under center.

“I think Patrick, obviously, he’s a tremendous player,” Brady said. “He’s a great leader. That’s one part. Everyone would look at a pass that’s a no-look pass. I look at, how do his teammates care about him? Do they respond to him? And that happens week in and week out with him, so that’s why they’re always the team to beat because he can play at an elite level and bring his teammates along with him.”

That’s high praise from the one former player that Mahomes likely respects above all and will be chasing for the rest of his NFL career with hopes of surpassing him one day in Super Bowl titles along with several other records and accolades.

First and foremost, Mahomes has to get by Brady’s childhood team in order to win a third Super Bowl title and inch closer to the halfway point of titles won compared to the legendary quarterback.
