The Los Angeles Lakers are back below .500.
It’s been a roller coaster of a season for the Purple and Gold, alternating big wins with mind-boggling losses.
Notably, that has led to questions about Darvin Ham for quite a while now.
Still, former NFL Keyshawn Johnson believes the Lakers’ struggling coach shouldn’t be fired.
Talking on Undisputed, Johnson pointed out the fact that the Lakers got rid of a defensive-minded head coach like Frank Vogel despite having won a championship, adding Ham, who was also supposed to be a defensive specialist despite having no head coaching experience.
“He shouldn’t be fired,” Johnson said.

So, now that the team is struggling, they don’t really have many options in replacing Ham.
They’ve already lost Doc Rivers to the Milwaukee Bucks’ head coaching job, and they cannot go after Tyronn Lue because he’s thriving with the Los Angeles Clippers.
That’s why he thinks that LeBron James’ cryptic tweet wasn’t asking to get yet another coach fired, but a message to his teammates to step up and chip in.
Coaching LeBron James has been tough for almost every single guy who’s had the opportunity.
They never get the credit and get all the blame, and they don’t usually last long on the job.
Ham has looked overwhelmed and unprepared at times.
But we’re midway through the NBA season, and it’s hard to imagine the Lakers finding someone better for the job at this point in the campaign, so they should just stick with him for now.
