There’s about a week left in the NBA for teams to wheel and deal in order to improve their rosters for the final stretch of the regular season in hopes of making a deep run in the NBA playoffs.
With the NBA trade deadline on February 8, the clock is ticking for teams to assess their rosters and make moves, with some of the best teams in the league looking for potential upgrades in the final week of the trading period.
According to Sam Amick, Shams Charania, and Kelly Iko of The Athletic, the Phoenix Suns and Boston Celtics might be in a two-team race in order to acquire forward Jae’Sean Tate of the Houston Rockets via NBA Central.

With the Celtics looking like the best all-around team in the NBA at this point in the regular season, the team doesn’t need to make any substantial moves to bolster their roster moving forward, which makes this potential move a smart one for Brad Stevens and company.
Even though the Suns had a rocky start to the season, with no telling if the three-headed monster of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal would work, Phoenix has come on strong as of late, with the team currently seven games above .500 at 27-20 while sitting in sixth place in the Western Conference.
That said, Frank Vogel’s squad will want to keep firing on all cylinders moving forward, with no substantial move in their plans heading toward the deadline.
In 43 games with the Rockets this season, Tate is currently averaging 4.7 points and 3.4 rebounds per game.
