After an inspired run to the Western Conference Finals last season, the Los Angeles Lakers were thought to be back on track as one of the best teams in the league and a serious threat to win it all over the next few years, with LeBron James and Anthony Davis leading the way.
Unfortunately, the 2023-24 NBA season hasn’t been kind to the storied franchise in Los Angeles, with the team failing to live up to expectations at this point.
The Lakers are currently sporting a losing record of 24-25 heading into Thursday’s matchup with the arch-rival Boston Celtics.
After the Lakers lost a second consecutive game convincingly on Tuesday night, James took to Twitter with a cryptic tweet of an hourglass emoji, which suggests the team is officially out of time with either head coach Darvin Ham needing to get the boot or the team needing to make some moves ahead of the NBA trade deadline.

ESPN’s Michael Wilbon was asked about James’ cryptic tweet and what he thinks it meant, via NBA on ESPN.
“Time is running out,” Wilbon said. “And we’re not good enough. … Sometimes in sports, we speak to the competitive level of both about the people playing it and the spirit they have or don’t, and you come away with the following simple conclusion: these dudes ain’t good enough.”

Wilbon appears to be right on point with his assessment of James and the Lakers, as this team hasn’t been able to play consistently well this season, even when they’re healthy.
That said, there’s no telling what will happen with this franchise moving forward and whether the team will make some bold moves over the next week or so.
