The Green Bay Packers’ offense looks like it has it’s foundation with Jordan Love, Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and Jayden Reed.

In their first playoff run together, the four young offensive players led the Packers to the NFC Divisional Round and a near upset of the San Francisco 49ers.

Head coach Matt LaFleur’s got several weapons to work with when he begins designing the offense for the 2024 NFL season, but the defense needs some work.

Defensive coordinator Joe Barry spent three seasons in the position in Green Bay and was largely underwhelming.

The organization decided to finally cut ties with Barry and hired Boston College head coach Jeff Hafley to replace him.

Hafley has experienced success in the college ranks and Dan Orlovsky believes he’ll amp up the Green Bay defense via his personal Twitter account.

“Heck of a football coach @packers defense will be much much more aggressive,” Orlovsky tweeted.

Hafley led the Eagles to three bowl-eligible seasons with his lone losing record coming in 2022 when they went 3-9.

He is a longtime NFL assistant coach who spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cleveland Browns, and San Francisco 49ers.

Although LaFleur and Hafley have never worked directly together, they share several mutual connections and thus should have some similar philosophies defensively.

Teams around the league haven’t been afraid to pluck coaches from the collegiate ranks to fill coordinator positions and Hafley is the latest to join the trend.

Green Bay’s oozing with talent and Hafley has the opportunity to help take the team to the next level.
