Over the past three years or so, the Brooklyn Nets went through some dark times.
Kevin Durant’s arrival was supposed to turn them into one of the powerhouses of the league, but that was far from the case.
His tenure in Brooklyn was stained by never-ending off-court issues and controversies and, more importantly, shortcomings on the court.
That’s why he specifically said that he didn’t want to get a tribute video in his return to Barclays Center on Wednesday night, to which the Nets didn’t listen.
With that in mind, sports analyst Chris Canty said that Durant looked absolutely miserable during that tribute, and rightfully so, as he’s become ‘the face of one of the biggest failures in roster construction in NBA history’ (via Unsportsmanlike Radio).

As harsh as it may sound, that’s actually true.
Then again, it’s fair to say that Durant always played well when he was available, and it wasn’t his fault for Kyrie Irving’s issues or that James Harden requested a trade out of the blue.
Durant almost single-handedly led them to the Eastern Conference Finals, and he always showed up to play when healthy.
He shouldn’t be a negative talking point at Barclays Center by any means; perhaps that’s an honor reserved for Irving or Harden.
But him being the future Hall of Famer that he is, and being arguably the greatest pure scorer this game has ever seen, he’s always going to be singled out because of this massive failure.
