On Thursday night, the Boston Celtics played host to the arch-rival Los Angeles Lakers, which was thought to be an easy win for Jayson Tatum and company due to the fact that neither Anthony Davis nor LeBron James were going to play.
The Celtics were heavy favorites coming into this game against the shorthanded Lakers, and for good reason: Los Angeles had lost its two previous road games to the Houston Rockets and Atlanta Hawks in blowout fashion.
Darvin Ham’s squad was playing uninspired basketball and seemed like a team that would roll over the second the game got tough.
So many people predicted another blowout loss for the Lakers, and justifiably so.
However, the Celtics didn’t expect the Lakers to come out with some fight on Thursday at TD Garden, with guard Austin Reaves having a big night, scoring a game-high 32 points to go along with a career-high seven three-pointers.
With this being an embarrassing loss at home for the Celtics, the team was criticized by ESPN’s Chiney Ogwumike on Friday, via NBA on ESPN.
“At times, I feel like the Celtics may be a little too cool for school,” Ogwumike said.

With the Celtics playing elite basketball this season, as it seems that moves to bring in Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis were the right ones, Boston should bounce back from this and get back to form.
However, the team can’t slip like this in the postseason, or they’ll see their year come to an end much sooner than anticipated.
