The Belichick era is officially over for the New England Patriots.
Bill Belichick posted a heartfelt letter to the New England area over the weekend, thanking fans and the organization for allowing him to be a part of their team for so long.
He was a staple of this team and community for over 20 years, and with a new coach at the helm, Belichick’s presence will be missed.
His son, Steve, is also a longtime veteran of the Patriots’ coaching staff and has been with the team since 2012.
There was some speculation that he would be on the move after his dad left, which has now been confirmed by Ari Meirov.
According to Matt Zenitz via Meirov, Steve Belichick is slated to become the Washington Huskies’ new defensive coordinator.
Steve Belichick, son of Bill, is likely to be hired by the Washington Huskies to be their new DC, per @mzenitz. A deal has not been finalized yet, but that’s where it is trending.

The Huskies are coming off one of their best seasons in school history.
They made it all the way to the national championship, and while they fell a bit short of their goals, they still made it further than many believed possible for them heading into the year.
With the news of Belichick likely joining their coaching staff, this team could continue to make strides and be great again in 2024.
He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from a winning culture, which could prove invaluable to the Huskies moving forward.
Belichick has never been a defensive coordinator, so letting him advance to this position could be a stepping stone for him to get back into the NFL someday, should he succeed and leave the college ranks.
