Despite not being much of a force in the Eastern Conference anymore, the Chicago Bulls are still one of the most popular teams on Earth.

Chicago is one of the basketball meccas; a city that lives and breathes hoops and has a diehard fan base.

Even so, it was kind of shocking to see that the Bulls currently lead the league in average attendance midway through the season.

As noted via NBACentral on Twitter, the Bulls are No. 1 in attendance with 20,247 fans per game on average.

The Bulls have been an up-and-down team for years now, and this season hasn’t been the exception to that rule.

They’re currently ninth in the Eastern Conference with a 23-27 record, four games below .500.

On top of that, Zach LaVine, one of the stars of the team, has missed much of the season with injuries and won’t be back on the court this campaign at all.

This speaks volumes of the Michael Jordan effect, believe it or not.

Even several decades after his second retirement, his impact on the sports industry can still be felt, as he was the one who took this ever-struggling franchise to the mountaintop and made it one of the most lucrative, popular, and valuable sports brands on Earth.

The fans definitely deserve better, and it’s been a long while since this team has been a legitimate NBA championship contender.
