The Chicago Bears could have a new quarterback under center next season.

With them getting the No. 1 pick, most people believe they’re going to take USC star Caleb Williams, who’s touted as one of the most talented prospects in NFL history.

Needless to say, that leaves Justin Fields as the odd man out, and he’s strongly expected to be traded in the offseason or at least in the mix.

With that in mind, former Bears HC Matt Nagy was asked his thoughts on his former quarterback.

Talking during the Super Bowl media day as the offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs, Nagy had nothing but praise for his former pupil, predicting he would continue to grow and find success in the league (Via Jason Lieser).

Nagy talked about the adversity Fields had to face in Chicago, adding that it’ll only make him stronger:

“You have to learn and grow from those experiences, and I think he’s done that,” Nagy said. “Some guys do it faster than others, but I know one thing’s for sure: He’s going the right way with his growth, and that’s important.”

Matt Nagy believes he & Justin Fields are still on their way up–

“You look at some of the adversity he’s been through, and it’s not easy in Chicago. It’s gonna make him tougher. Whether he stays there or goes somewhere else, I know he’s very resilient.”https://t.co/T3FsbMRy3j

Ironically, he was partly responsible for that adversity.

The Bears designed their entire offense around Andy Dalton and had Justin Fields work with backups during the offseason.

Then, they failed to adapt their playbook and game plan to Fields’ skill set, making him look unprepared and putting him in a tough spot to start his career in the league.

Fields has shown signs of promise, and he could still have a bright future; he’s already one of the best scramblers in the game.

Then again, it seems like the Bears failed him to some degree, and perhaps all he needs is a change of scenery to finally break out.
