The Miami Dolphins were one of the most electric offenses in the 2023 NFL season but faltered in the postseason as they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Wild Card Round.

It’s a disappointing end to what looked like a promising year for the Dolphins given the star power and talent it had on both ends of the field.

However, injuries to several key players made it an uphill battle for Miami who will have to try its luck again in 2024.

Fans got treated to a show every week during the regular season, though, as Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill combined for explosive plays seemingly every offensive possession.

This year’s Miami squad had shades of the units led by franchise legend Dan Marino who was ahead of his time as a passer.

In an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Marino made a bold claim about what he could do if he played in the modern NFL.

“The rules have changed and I would say our offense was a little bit ahead of its time.. I don’t have to prove it so yes I could throw for 6,000 yards,” Marino said.

Marino jokes about the yardage total because he’ll never have to play a full season in the league again, but it does raise the question as to whether or not a quarterback will ever reach those totals.

Teams have become more pass-heavy in recent years, and with the next generation of quarterbacks on its way it feels like a matter of time until someone hits a barrier no one has been able to shatter before.
