Dan Quinn is the official new head coach of the Washington Commanders.
While this is a great move for Quinn’s NFL career, it puts the Dallas Cowboys into a bind, needing to look for a new defensive coordinator.
The Cowboys have already conducted a few interviews for this position, with a few more to follow in the coming days.
Even though some candidates have presented better opportunities than others, Craig Carton believes that one candidate stands out among the rest.
As he said in a recent segment of his show, “I make sure Rex Ryan doesn’t get on a plane and leave Dallas without a contract signed. He is the greatest hire for that franchise.”

Carton believes that Ryan’s career experience could help the Cowboys reach the next level.
The defense was one of the best in the league under Quinn, but Ryan could quickly get them back to the same standards, if not overachieve what they accomplished in 2024.
Over the past several years, the Cowboys have been viewed as having a top ten, even top five roster in the NFL.
For some reason, however, they haven’t materialized that hype or excitement into tangible wins in the playoffs.
They have yet to make it back to the Super Bowl in over 20 years, but with Ryan’s help, they just might be able to make a stronger playoff push in 2024 and beyond.
Regardless of who takes on this job, there will be a lot of eyes on the new DC, especially since the Cowboys are one of the most highly-discussed teams in the NFL.
