The San Francisco 49ers haven’t won the Super Bowl in more than two decades.

The Kansas City Chiefs haven’t done it since last season.

Patrick Mahomes has already cemented his case as a future first-ballot Hall of Famer before turning 29 years of age, so it’s not like he has anything left to prove at this point.

That’s why Pro Football Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe believes Brock Purdy is the guy under the most pressure to get the job done on Sunday.

Talking on First Take, the legendary tight end explained that even if Mahomes loses, no one can say anything about him or bash him, as he’s already proven that he can win big games, not to mention all his career accolades and two 5,000 passing yards seasons.

“There are no more questions we need to ask about Patrick Mahomes.  This is all about Brock Purdy,”Sharpe said.

Purdy, on the other hand, has been criticized and doubted from the very beginning of his career.

Sharpe himself has had some negative things to say about Purdy, who’s been deemed a game-manager and a system quarterback.

Winning this game would pretty much silence most of the criticism unless he wins it despite not playing a big role for his team.

Brock Purdy is in a tough spot right now.

He’s going to get all of the blame if his team loses, but he’s not likely to get any of the credit if they get it done, not even if he wins Super Bowl MVP.

This could be a make-or-break game for his career.
