The Texas Rangers and outfielder Adolis Garcia were set to have an arbitration hearing after not being able to agree on his 2024 salary.
That would have been a mistake by the Rangers: Garcia was one of their most important players in their 2023 World Series run, and risking ruining their relationship in an uncomfortable hearing was not a very smart move.
Yet there is light at the end of the tunnel for Rangers fans: the team was able to agree on a contract with Garcia for the 2024 season.
That’s not all: you can include 2025 in the pact, too.

The terms of the deal have not been disclosed yet, but we do know that there was a $1.9 million gap in what the Rangers offered for this season ($5 million) and what Garcia asked ($6.9 million).
It was the largest gap in baseball ahead of arbitration hearings.
One has to think the two-year deal will pay Garcia enough to cover his expected arbitration raise for 2025.
Even with the two-year contract, Garcia won’t have any free-agent seasons covered: just arbitration seasons three and four.
That means he will be in for a large increase in 2026.
Garcia was a monster in 2023, with 39 home runs and a .836 OPS in the regular season and an extra eight round-trippers and a 1.108 OPS in the playoffs.
His performance was a big boost for the Rangers as they secured their first ever World Series title.
