It didn’t take long before Micah Parsons proved to be the best defensive player in his class.

He had one of the greatest rookie seasons ever, running away with Defensive Rookie of the Year while also being a serious candidate for Defensive Player of the Year.

Notably, that makes all teams that passed on him wonder how they let him slip all the way to No. 12.

That includes his hometown team, the Philadelphia Eagles, who actually traded up to take WR DeVonta Smith with the No. 10 selection.

However, that was actually what he always wanted.

Talking to Jordan Love on his “The Edge” podcast, the Penn State product revealed that he actually skipped his draft interview with the Eagles because ha had no interest whatsoever in playing there (via Bleacher Report).

He stated that he wanted to be a man and get away from home, as he just didn’t want to deal with that kind of burden.

Ironically, he wound up joining the most hated team from his hometown’s fan base, but that’s just the way things go in this business at times.

Also, it’s not like Smith has been a scrub by any means, so Eagles fans may not regret that selection that much.

Parsons has the potential to be a generational defender, although he still has to prove himself when it matters the most.

Whatever the case, it seems like his hometown friends and family will have to settle for watching him twice a year and hope he has a good game but his team still losses.
