It was reported on Saturday morning that Spencer Dinwiddie plans to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers, putting an end to days-long speculation about the guard’s future.
The signing of Dinwiddie was met with the approval of most fans.
NBA analyst Jason Timpf said he was “intrigued” by what the player can do for the Lakers.
He noted that Dinwiddie is a “bigger/better athlete than any of the other Laker ball handling guards.”
He also added that he’s an “excellent closeout attacker” with 1.2 points per spot up possession.
A video shared by Timpf shows just what Dinwiddie might bring to LA.
I’m intrigued by Dinwiddie’s fit with the Lakers for two reasons:
1. He’s a bigger/better athlete than any of the other Laker ball handling guards.
2. He’s an excellent closeout attacker. 1.2 points per spot up possession. (33rd out of 188 players to log at least 100) pic.twitter.com/AMvIehfV8C

For the season, Dinwiddie is averaging 12.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 6 assists per game.
He became one of the more important players for the Brooklyn Nets since joining the team last season.
When it was announced that he was going to find a new home in the league, there was a lot of speculation about where he may head.
It came down to a competition between the Lakers and Dinwiddie’s former team, the Dallas Mavericks.
In the end, the Lakers were able to convince Dinwiddie that he’d have better luck in Los Angeles.
Perhaps that is because they are going to give him plenty of time on the floor and see him as a way to greatly improve the team’s backcourt.
The Lakers made no moves at the NBA trade deadline on Thursday and this will likely be their last roster adjustment before the end of the season.
Can Dinwiddie bring enough to the team to help them reach the playoffs and possibly the Western Conference Finals again?
