The Golden State Warriors had some tough decisions to make at this recent trade deadline.

One player they considered moving was former All-Star forward Andrew Wiggins.

Wiggins has not played up to his standard during the first half of the NBA season.

He is averaging a career-low 12.4 points per game while only shooting 44.5% from the field and 31.9% from three.

His struggles have played a part in the Warriors’ sub-.500 record.

Many people thought it would be best for Wiggins to have a change of scenery at the deadline.

But, the Warriors decided to keep Wiggins and hope he can return to form.

According to Marcus Thompson II via The Athletic: “The bet the Warriors made this deadline was that Wiggins can find his way back.”

Wiggins at his best could have the Warriors firing on all cylinders again.

This team has gotten inconsistent play from everyone not named Stephen Curry.

But, the emergence of Jonathan Kuminga along with Curry has kept the Warriors afloat.

Wiggins not only is a capable scorer when healthy, but he is a very good defensive player.

Golden State has struggled on defense most of the year, but Wiggins as a point-of-attack defender is crucial.

He can shut down an opposing team’s top scorer and that is invaluable.

The Warriors have a lot of work to do to avoid the play-in tournament.

They currently sit tied for 10th in the West.

But, they are five games out of the six-seed and have a favorable schedule the rest of the way.

It will not be easy for the Warriors to get back into contention, but Wiggins playing at his best will be a huge factor.
