The Tampa Bay Buccaneers already have a quarterback.
Baker Mayfield had the best season of his career this year, even leading them to a postseason win.
Mayfield is heavily expected to sign another contract with the organization in the summer, and they even hired their new offensive coordinator, planning to build their offense around the former No. 1 pick.
Nonetheless, the Buccaneers also need a backup, as they only have Kyle Trask under contract right now.
Also, there’s still a chance, although slim, that another team signs Mayfield this offseason.
Should that be the case, then it seems like Bruce Arians may have a favorite QB prospect already.
“As far as the football grade, I love (Penix) because he does things I love to do,” Arians said. “He puts (the ball) up the field. He’s as accurate on throws up the field as anyone I’ve seen in 15 years Just to fight through that last game after he had that ankle tore up. But what he did to Texas was unbelievable.”

Per Around the NFL, the former head coach, who’s currently serving as an advisor, is quite fond of Washington’s Michael Penix Jr:
Penix had an outstanding campaign last season.
Then again, some believe he might even fall out of the first or second round due to some serious injury concerns.
He has had multiple season-ending injuries throughout the course of his college football career, dating back to his days with the Indiana Hoosiers.
Nonetheless, Arians believes that only speaks volumes of his toughness and what he’s been able to overcome to get to this point.
Penix is also about to turn 24, which is kind of old for a quarterback prospect.
The Bucs will be on the clock with the No. 26 pick in April’s draft, but Jason Licht could also look to take him in the second and third rounds, respectively, depending on how far he falls.
