No one would argue that the Los Angeles Lakers are one of the best teams in the NBA right now.
However, people aren’t rushing to count them out because the Lakers have impressed and overperformed before, including just last season.
Speaking on First Take, Shannon Sharpe had a strong prediction about the Lakers this year.
He told Kendrick Perkins that the team would make it to “at least to the Western Conference Finals.”
Perkins, a non-believer in the team, said that if the Lakers don’t reach the Western Conference Finals, then Sharpe would have to allow him to appear on his show, Club Shay Shay.

And just like that, the bet is set – but will Sharpe or Perkins win?
Right now, it isn’t very clear because the Lakers are not in a great spot with a 28-26 record and the ninth seed in the West.
However, they have had a few impressive wins lately, including against the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, and New Orleans Pelicans.
Additionally, the team just added Spencer Dinwiddie to the roster, who could greatly improve the roster and give them more depth.
Plus, no one has forgotten how the Lakers turned things around last season and ultimately faced off against the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals.
They did it before so why can’t they do it again, some people ask.
If the Lakers are going to turn things around again, they will need to start very soon.
The season is reaching a critical point and the Lakers do not want to once again fight their way through the Play-In Tournament.
It would be much easier on them to simply secure a spot in the playoffs but the competition is incredibly tough this year.
If the Lakers are able to push far into the postseason, it’ll be considered another stunning feat by LeBron James and his squad.
