The Golden State Warriors haven’t exactly been at their best this season.
Stephen Curry continues to play lights out as he usually does, but the rest of his supporting cast has been lacking at times.
Notably, that includes Klay Thompson.
Once deemed 1B to Curry’s 1A in the list of the greatest shooters of all time, the shooting guard has drawn plenty of mockery and criticism on social media for his play this season.
That’s why fellow sharpshooter Danny Green went to his defense.
Talking on 95.7 The Game, the former NBA champion — who knows firsthand what it’s like to be called out and mocked for being in a slump — stated that Thompson has earned the right to have a down year after being so great for over a decade (via NBA Central).
Danny Green defends Klay Thompson
“Klay’s getting a lot of hell on social media, which is nuts. This is a guy who’s earned the right to have a rough year once in a while. He’s had a great decade-long playing career. Bad years happen sometimes.”

Thompson has embraced a lesser role in Steve Kerr’s rotation.
He recently admitted that he’s willing to take fewer shots and play a similar role to Ray Allen with the Miami Heat if that helped the team, adding that he still wants to finish his career in the Bay area.
Klay Thompson overcame two major injuries and was able to play a big role on a championship team after a two-year layoff.
He’s a future first-ballot Hall of Famer, a guy who made an impact on both ends of the floor, a four-time NBA champion, and one of the best shooters ever.
It’s time the fans cut him some slack already.
