It’s been a dramatic 2023-24 NBA season for the Milwaukee Bucks who fired former head coach Adrian Griffin in favor of Doc Rivers.
Rivers was brought in because of his ability to command a locker room and his championship experience, but so far he’s actually fared worse than Griffin.
Milwaukee has looked jumbled on both ends of the floor and have lost several games in the past few weeks.
However, their most recent loss to the Memphis Grizzlies was alarming and prompted a response from star Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Antetokounmpo said that too many excuses are being used to describe what the Bucks are going through, though Kendrick Perkins took some exception to the sentiment via ESPN.
“What’s Giannis’ excuse?” Perkins asked.

Perkins criticizes Antetokounmpo’s defense, pointing out his block numbers as an example of what he could be doing more on the defensive end.
Antetokounmpo is arguably having an under-the-radar season on both ends of the floor, but it hasn’t translated to as many wins as he and the team would like.
The former MVP remains one of the most dominant players in the NBA today, but as Perkins mentions he might need to somehow do more to keep Milwaukee in the contender conversation.
The All-Star break came at a good time for the Bucks who can use the time off to regroup and get themselves ready for the home stretch.
Milwaukee should still be dangerous come playoff time because they have Antetokounmpo, but they definitely look more vulnerable than before.
